Our family thought and prayed, and prayed and thought about how best to extend FUMC WP’s love offering beyond our normal range. We decided to help residents of the poorest county in the USA- the Oglala Lakota Pine Ridge Reservation in southern South Dakota. Home of the descendants of Crazy Horse, Red Cloud and many others, this reservation struggles to move forward, help their people, while keeping their proud traditions, language and legacy alive.
The $25 is being used by the Oglala Lakota College’s Department of Nursing to provide scholarship support to native students.

On Sunday, May 31, the church commissioned over 400 families and individuals to use $25 they received in worship to bless someone else. It was an opportunity to fulfill the Great Commandment, found in Matthew 22:36-39. Their instructions were to pray for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to give them wisdom in making their decision, and then give the money in a creative fashion that would help someone in need. Below are responses about how those commissioned were inspired to share their money.
